Happy Halloween TCG Family!

We hope you all are having a spooky & safe Halloween, and made a plan to vote next week! We spent the month expanding our networks, building critical infrastructure on 60th Street, and preparing for the months ahead as we get ready to launch in 2025!

We’ve had an inspiring few weeks since we last reached out; attending the GPlex Conference in San Diego, receiving funding from the State for our ADA accessibility efforts, Chef Joy spending a week in Washington with the James Beard Foundation, grew our board of directors, & so much more!

Updates!

Please give a warm welcome to the newest additions to our board of directors: Rachel Greengas & Dr. Saba Khan!

Dr. Khan is a pediatrics healthcare physician leader with 15+ years’ experience in providing care and an intergenerational approach to developing programs to address societal root causes of poor health outcomes across the community with a patient centric approach. She is a Food Rx expert and change agent leading SDOH, obesity, pediatric equitable care with β€˜profit for all’ mindset.

Rachel Greengas is the Global Director of Sustainability, Strategic Impact at FMC Corporation, where she and her team are responsible for leading FMC’s efforts toward achieving their environmental sustainability goals. Rachel is a strategic problem solver with significant experience in project management, risk evaluation and general management.

GPlex Conference - Eli attended the Great Philadelphia Leadership Exchange hosted by the Economy League with the support of the Barra Foundation! After 4 intense days of networking, workshops, & learning β€” we came back with new relationships, partners, and supporters of our vision for a stronger, healthier Philadelphia. Thank you to everyone who made GPlex incredible!

Construction Progress - We installed our staircases, finished laying out the entire first floor, completed paint scraping, and are reworking electrical, plumbing, and second floor plans! Stay ahead on our community updates page here!

James Beard Bootcamp - Chef Joy, our Workforce Director, spent the last week in Carnation, Washington at the James Beard Foundation’s Chef Bootcamp for Policy and Change β„’.  Alongside national culinary leaders, Joy shared and learned about innovative approaches for positive impacts on our food systems, from soil to supper.

LSA Award - With the support of Speaker McClinton, Senator Anthony Williams, the city of Philadelphia, and the entire Commonwealth; we were awarded $209,000 for Accessibility efforts to ensure our community building is accessible for all!

Sunday with Vice President Kamala Harris - Last Sunday, we attended church service at Christian Compassion with a guest sermon from the Vice President of the United States! Compassion is a verb, and we are committed to taking compassionate actions every day for our community.

Hard Hat Tours & Volunteer Opportunities - We are continuing to host hard hat tours and volunteer opportunities every Friday as our building is under construction! If you haven't had a chance to join one of our tours: sign up here!
